I think of this record as a mixtape of sorts...

Some tracks go back years, having been chiseled many times over. Other tracks were written and performed live in 2020, often in one take– yielding a more sparse improvisational feel.

These varying processes, I found, could communicate, or complement each other if put together on a record. Could push or pull in different directions. They could tell a 'story'...act as a ship's logbook, recounting the status and notable points of a voyage. Entries from the last few crazy years.
